Faith in 3D
Faith by reason perceives that the seen material world is not self-sufficient.
Everything on the earth has no foundation, everything on earth will eventually decay. Abraham understood this truth, hence he searched for a city whose builder and maker is God.
3-Dimension of Faith
- Faith as the substance of our foundation Eph 2:8-9
- Faith as a reward for our works
- The enduring rest of faith.
Faith as the Substance of our foundation
Substance talks about foundation. Faith is the substance of our hope. Christ Jesus is the substance of our hope. The foundation of faith is in Christ Jesus, the word – those that hear and do that which they have heard in the word. The word is more real than anything you can ever experience.
Jesus is the word that created the earth. Your faith must recognise Christ as the One, primarily.
This is a Psalm of David after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba. True repentance comes from realising that you have sinned against God being convicted by the lovingkindness, tender mercies and goodness of God.
Faith as a reward of our works of diligence
Diligence is constant conscious effort. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word. In between faith and the word is hearing. Hearing is when you take the word that you have heard and it translates to tangible action. The importance of the word is the language of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit of God is the conduit that activates and interprets the word. Corresponding action in line with the word and the interpretation is diligence.
The enduring race of faith
There were others too, who obtained a good testimony through faith. Because we ignore the others, we judge people “faithful” by the fruits we see. Your faith is only pure not by what you receive but by who you are focused on. Everything you will receive by faith on earth (job, house, car, child, marriage etc) will still eventually perish. There is a more enduring faith.
The enduring race is the testament of the empty tomb, Jesus! Jesus resurrected from the dead, therein lies the foundation of our faith. Jesus is the Author and the finisher of our faith.
