The Joy of our Fellowship
This verse describes Christian core values: Love the Lord your God with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, and with every thought that is within you. This is the great and supreme commandment. And the second is like it in importance: ‘You must love your friend in the same way you love yourself.
Every core value should be: specific (i.e. Love the Lord your God with all your soul and might) and aspirational (i.e. something that is beyond yourself, challenging and inspiring). The core value of the City of God church is “to inspire and empower people”. The core value and principle of the Kingdom of God is described in Matt 22.
Matt 22:11-14 – The parable of the wedding feast
The wedding was between Christ and the church. The first set of people invited rejected the gospel, they were proud. The second set were people were the meek and lowly who accepted the invitation and attended the feast. Jesus came in and saw a man who was not wearing the wedding garment, so He asked him why?
The wedding garment signifies Christ Jesus, the man rejected this garment out of pride, either because he felt he was too good for it (pride) or full of guilt because he felt he was unworthy. However, there were some who wore the wedding garment signifying they were humble enough to submit themselves in total surrender and acknowledge Christ void of pride or self-pity (condemnation) . They understood that they could never pay for it but understood that someone paid for this garment and accepted it. The chosen ones were worthy, pure and excellent in accepting Christ. The purity of your Christian life is Christ.
You give according to the image you see. Every time a core value is inscribed, the profit of that organisation is generated from practicing it. In the Kingdom, the idea of self-gratification is contrary to the core value.
The blessing of the kingdom is imbedded in unity. God will not bless a divided house because He died to save ALL not a few!
The demonstration of your love for God is in how you treat your neighbour in whom you see. Multiplication in the Kingdom comes from unity.
The true manifestation of the sons of God is in the demonstration of the love of God. As a church we need to learn from Christ, to love our neighbour as our self and love God with all our heart. The best of Christ was the beginning of our joy. Joy is an innate gladness that is irrespective of your circumstance, this comes from Christ alone.
